Biography : Dr. Brajesh Singh is an associate professor at Hawkesbury Institute of the Environment, University of Western Sydney (Australia). His research interests encompass functional microbial ecology to environmental biotechnology. After completing PhD from Imperial College, London he worked at the Macaulay Institute Aberdeen, UK for number of years before taking up the current position at UWS. He has published well over 100 papers including >60 in high impact international journals. Dr Jagat R. Kanwar   Deakin University, Australia

Biography : Dr.Jagat Kanwar is an immunologist and molecular biochemist. He is group leader of the Laboratory of Immunology and Molecular Biomedical Research. Kanwar’s research work generated in total of 12 patent/PCTs with two provisionals in preparation. Five of these patents have been licensed for commercialization to biotech companies Antisoma, NeuronZ, Neuren Pharmaceuticals and Fonterra. He was invited as a speaker in more than 30 conferences and chaired sessions in Immunology, Nanotechnology, Nanomedicine and Biotechnology. BIOGRAPHY

Dr. A.E. Ghaly   Dalhousie University,Canada

Biography : Dr. Abdel Ghaly (male) is a professor of Biological and Environmental Engineering. Dr. Ghaly obtained B.Eng (1969) and MSc (1973) from Alexandria University (Egypt) and Ph.D (1982) from McGill University (Canada). He worked as a lecturer at Alexandria University (Egypt) (1973-1974), Graduate Assistant/Special Lecturer at McGill University (Canada) (1975-1979), Assistant Professor and Head of Departmental at University of Zambia (Zambia) (1979-1982) and Professor, Director of International Program and Director of Graduate Program at Dalhousie University (Canada) since 1982. He was a Visiting Professor at University of Guyana (Guyana), University of Trinidad (West Indies), Cairo University (Egypt), University of Sierra Leone (Sierra Leone), University of Bogor (Indonesia), University of Oriente (Cuba), University of Sana’a (Yemen), University of Agriculture (Slovak Republic) and King Saud University (Saudi Arabia). Professor Ghaly specializes in the areas of environmental engineering (including waste characterization, management and utilization, remediation of contaminated air, water and soil, environmental assessment and development of environmental technology), energy (including characterization of biomass, size reduction, production of biogas, bioethanol and biodiesel, modeling and development of energy technology) and biotechnology (including production of high value molecules such as nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals from waste materials, kinetic studies, process control and development of fermentation technology). He established and directed several large international projects in developing courtiers (Zambia, Egypt, Nigeria, Guyana, Trinidad, Barbados, Antigua, Thailand and Sierra Leone). He evaluated governmental policies and provided consulting services to several countries. He provided 47 distinguished lectures and 37 scientific interviews to TV, radio and newspaper around the world. Professor Ghaly has published 180 referred journal paper, 48 papers in conference proceedings and presented 230 conference papers. He trained 65 Graduate Students, 37 Postdoctoral Fellows and employed 7 Scientists, 8 Technicians and 55 Co-op Students. He is a member of 13 technical societies and 14 international organization, served as editor for 12 journals, organized 11 conferences and chaired 31 sessions. Professor Ghaly has received over 22 international awards in recognition of his outstanding contribution to teaching and research worldwide and has been made a fellow of the Canadian Society of Biological Engineering and the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. Dr. Joaquim Cabral   Institute for Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Portugal

Biography : Joaquim M.S. Cabral is Professor of Biological Engineering, in the Department of Bioengineering at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal. He was the founder and Head of Department of Bioengineering, and Director of the Institute for Biotechnology and Bioengineering. He obtained his Diploma in Chemical Engineering from IST in 1976. His Ph.D. and “Habilitation” degrees in Biochemical Engineering were obtained in 1982 and 1988, respectively. After a post-doctoral study at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983/84, he joined IST Faculty as Assistant Professor and became a Full Professor in 1992. Joaquim Cabral\'s research aims at contributing for biochemical engineering science through novel developments in Bioprocess Engineering and Stem Cell Bioengineering. He is member of several Editorial Boards of scientific journals and of Organizing and Scientific Committees of conferences in the areas of Biotechnology and Stem Cells, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. Biography : Vic currently serves as Chief Scientific Officer of Horizon Science Pty Ltd. Vic has more than 18 years of biotech experience in the discovery and development of biologics, diagnostics and functional foods. He has served in multiple senior management roles in R&D and business development with several biotech companies in Australia and Europe including Patrys Ltd, HealthLinx Ltd (formerly Cryptome Pharmaceuticals Ltd), Xerion Pharmaceuticals AG and Morphosys AG. He is also an advisor to other biotech companies. Vic has a PhD in Microbiology/ Immunology and did postdoctoral studies in structural biology. BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Subhash Dawan   Food and Drug Administration,USA

Biography : Dr. Subhash Dhawan is Chief of Viral Immunology section in the Laboratory of Molecular Virology at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, US Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Dhawan’s research focuses on the regulation of viral and host factors in the pathogenesis of HIV infection. As a regulatory scientist, Dr. Dhawan performs review of product applications and conducts inspections of fi rms manufacturing blood screening and diagnostic tests for the detection of HIV infection.
